So many people say you can't swim in Darwin, but that is most definitely a myth. Darwin is home to a number of public swimming pools, water parks, a recreational lagoon and wave pool, and incredible natural pools not far from the CBD.
Darwin Waterfront
Grab a float or a boogie board and ride the waves in the Wave Pool, or dip your toes into the Recreational Lagoon, a man-made inland beach with nets protecting you from marine stingers and any other creatures. It's perfect for all ages and a great day in the sun.. and a hop, skip and jump from your accomodation if you're staying with us at the Adina-Vibe Darwin Waterfront.
Palmerston Water Park
Perfect for a family day out, the water park boasts 2 water-play areas for the kids featuring water canons and more, plus a six-lane racer water slide! There is plenty of shade and areas to sit and relax.
Litchfield National Park
For a day trip to remember, head to Litchfield National Park, just 90 minutes from Darwin. Glide through the clear pools at Wangi and Florence Falls to thundering double waterfalls or float in the cascades at Buley Rockhole.
Insider Tip: While at Litchfield, jump in a 4WD to experience a local favourite, Tjaynera Falls (Sandy Creek) - check out the main pic - where you'll get stunning views over the open valley, inaccessible by foot or car, plus a dip in the beautifully serene plunge pool.
Lake Alexander, East Point Reserve
While you can't swim at most Darwin beaches, Lake Alexander is filled with filtered seawater, providing a safe, stinger-free swimming space in natural surroundings, complete with picnic areas and playgrounds so the whole family can enjoy.
